Repair Guide: Fixing the Thermostat in a Renault Avantime

Steps to Replace the Thermostat

Park your car on a level surface and open the hood.

Place the bucket beneath the radiator and open the drain plug to remove the coolant.

Locate the thermostat which is usually at the end of the radiator hose where it connects with the engine.

Use the screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp and remove the hose from the thermostat housing.

Use your socket set to remove the bolts on the thermostat housing. Take out the faulty thermostat.

Install the new thermostat making sure it is positioned correctly and replace the housing cover.

Replace the radiator hose and tighten the clamp.

Refill the radiator with anti-freeze coolant.

Run your car and watch the temperature gauge to ensure the new thermostat is working correctly.
